Genuine Tuff Torq 187Q0899000 3 Liter 5W50 Hydrostatic Transmission Oil. So, have any of you used 15w50 synthetic in your JD/Tuff Torq transmissions? I actually called Tuff Torq and asked to speak to the service guys so I could ask about this and the person I talked to didn't seem to know much about the oil and while he said he thought it would be fine, I just didn't get the warm and fuzzy/confident feeling from him (didn't seem like he knew for sure). Genuine Tuff Torq 1A646099141 Transmission Seal Kit Fits K46 T40 1A646099140. Mobil, Castrol, Shell, whatever is easiest and cheapest to find. The K46 needs (according to the Tuff torq) a synthetic 50 weight. Find the cheapest synthetic 50 weight oil and run that. I believe that the MSDS shows that this oil is manufactured by Shell. The reason I was checking to see if Mobil1 synthetic 15w50 is a safe/good option for for the Tuff Torq transmission in my mower is because it's a lot easier to find that weight in stock and at a reasonable price. I used Motomaster 5w50 synthetic in mine. Knowing there's a variety of weights of oil you can use for the ENGINE on a mower, depending on the outside air temperature, I wondered if the same holds true (to some extent) for the hydros? If they reocmmend 5w50 for example, is there any reason why you couldn't use a synthetic (Mobil1) 15w50 like certain other brands of transmissions recommend? (like hydogear and so on, my previous exmark had the hydrogear if I remember right) I want to change the fluid after this season and I was looking at my options. From what I've read, their own fluid is just a 5w50 as well. When I then checked the Tuff Torq site again, the first transmission that they list as having 1' axles is the k58. When I measured the axles on my X300 using a micrometer, they are exactly 1' diameter. According to Tuff Torq, the axles on the k46 are 3/4' diameter. Now (today) they say their own fluid is the recommendation. If you are changing the oil for doing repairs to the unit, Tuff Torq recommends the use of TUFF TECH premium hydrostatic drive fluid as a replacement for the. Having said that, I went to the Tuff Torq site and looked at the specs for the k46. The Z960M (2016) has two Tuff Torq TZT13 units and Tuff Torq's web site used to call for 5w50 synthetic as a replacement for the JD Hy-Gard High Viscosity fluid.
